SPRING ORC 2021 – Week 7 – Surprise, Surprise!

Hello Friends!!

It‘s the last week, the big “give it what you‘ve got”! It‘s week 7 of the One Room Challenge and the end is so close! I have taken a chance to look at a majority of the other projects and I am absolutely blown away! It is so cool to see the different styles and creative minds that are part of this community and I can‘t wait to continue following their journeys of making their house a home!

This past week I was able to complete a majority of my to-do list! Last week I finished the beams and I am still obsessed with them! The depth and character they add to the room are jaw dropping. I was also able to get the box paneling started. I used 3/8 x 1 1/4 decorative basswood panel trim for this. There was also a great debate as to whether or not I paint it white.

In addition to painting the trim, I also began putting the crown moulding up between the beams. AND I finally got the drawer faces on! That was a major win (If you know, you know!)

On another note, I painted the back of the cabinets to prepare for the hundreds of slats going in this week. The dimension the black added has me so excited to get the slats in! It was the depth this project needed! There is also a SURPRISE hiding behind the murphy bed. I was able to get that painted inside today but decided to do a last minute feature wall inside which I am saving for the final reveal!

What is left to do:

• Finish Crown Moulding
• Paint and Attach Cabinet doors
• Get handles on all the drawers and cabinet doors
• Paint and instal slats on shelves
• Lights
• Touch ups
• Staging!
